Africa is a vast continent with over a billion people living on it. You could travel for years around the continent and still not manage to see all it has to offer. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to work in an area of need within a local community. These usually include HIV/AIDS awareness centres, Children’s Orphanages and schools who lack teachers. The is by far one of the best experiences one can imagine. There is a sense of accomplishment & achievement when you help somebody who really needs it. The local people who you are working with are and inspiration to be around. They give you the drive and passion to continue working and helping people not only in Africa but back home as well.
There are over 500,000 people on the African continent and over 50% of them are below the international poverty line. Most of them are not sure where their next meal will be coming from and where they are going to sleep that night. Many governments in Africa overlook these issues and choose to ignore them. This is where volunteering is so important. Volunteers get access the the poorest people and are able to aid them in every way helping them with the prospects for the future.
There are millions of volunteers all over the world helping people who are less fortunate than themselves. It is one of the best experiences you can gain out of life and you will be astounded by how people are living in some countries. It is truly shocking.
