Volunteer Work Abroad - Why Participate?

Volunteer in Kenya today with many others participating in year out volunteering every year. Whether you do some working abroad or working with HIV victims abroad, you do the work knowing you are helping a good cause. The travel and tourism industry is currently the largest, and most rapidly growing industry in the world. The travel and tourism industry has given birth to a new form of tourism called ‘voluntourism’. This is a new niche in the tourism market and consists of people travelling mostly to developing countries with the goal to aid projects such as HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and looking after children in orphanages.
Volunteering is not the only reason you should travel to a country to work. Volunteers are usually given special care by the company who took them their and give them the opportunity to see the beauty of the country they are in. This is a very important factor to consider when taking part in a volunteer placement abroad. Whilst the main aim behind volunteering is for the volunteer to pay for their time at the project many companies are now offering financial incentives to work. Volunteer companies want to extract the skills from their volunteers and one way of doing this is by offering them financial help. This not only benefits the volunteer but also helps build the bonds between the community and the company. The most common example of this would be those who have medical training, prior humanitarian experience or construction experience. These people with specialist skills will more often than not be offered an incentive in the form of grants.
There are huge rewards in volunteering work especially if you participate in a project with your family an friends. It most certainly helps enhance and tighten the bond you have with one another. Voluntourism gives the normal holiday makers a great chance to actually experience the culture and the country they are in from the inside. This is an opportunity you would not usually get on a package holiday. This is the chance to really help make a difference in the world and help change not only your life but many others around you as well.
