One of the great joys of my childhood was camping with my family. We would go all over the country and have so much fun and build so many great family memories that my brothers and I still talk about today. The hardest part of camping however was the set up and teardown. We camped in tents and cooked over open fires. When the weather was bad, setting up or tearing down the camp was hard. But it was always fun.
We thought we were in hog heaven the day my dad bought a used tent trailer. It was so much easier to go on a trip, but it was still a lot of work setting up and tearing down. After two or three years, we then got a travel trailer and it changed our camping lives.
We kept the RV loaded with supplies and all our gear and we were able to go camping over a weekend at a moments notice. Pulling into the campground all we had to do was put the stabilizer jacks down and we were set up. We had a real stove to cook with, a refrigerator to keep our food cold and an air conditioner. Growing up in the Texas, having AC was the greatest thing about our travel trailer.
We would travel from Big Bend to Yellowstone, from Corpus Christi to Orlando, stop when we wanted and go where we pleased. After retiring, my folks bought a Class A motor Home, sold their house and traveled full time. I envied the freedom they had so much.
I don’t have that type of freedom as of yet, but I have owned several Keystone RVs from a pop-out to a Montana 5th wheel. My family and I now have the freedom to travel wherever we want and do whatever we please as well. Now that we have grand-kids to take along, it is even more fun.
Not everyone will retire to full time RVing, but it couldn’t hurt. The freedom that owning a Keystone RV provides is like nothing else I can think of. We go on great vacations, are able to see the sights of this great country and take all the comforts of home with us. Even with the price of fuel today, we still spend less money than if we were to fly or stay in hotels. All while sleeping in our own beds. It does not get any better than that.
